Following my diagnosis of bipolar 2 I have learned how to thrive whilst taking care of my mental health. That didn't happen overnight and I had to learn as I went. 

It takes a daily commitment to myself to put my mental health and wellbeing before anything and anyone else, because if I don’t work, then nothing else in my life will. 
I have a lot of people who rely on me, and I want to be a support to them and to do that I need to make myself a priority and not let my needs be forgotten. 

Take the time to ask yourself what support it is that you need to give yourself in order for you to be ok. 

There is always hope, things always pass. Hold on and live each day for tomorrow believing it will get better, because one day it does, and that is beautiful.

Ok let’s be real, we are sociable creatures used to living in tribes not behind closed doors. 

Asking for help is absolutely expected in these times, maybe not physical help as that might not be available in your situation, but think out side the box- who can help you emotionally for example? 

I suppose the question bigger than this is, what do you need? It could be a small things that would make the world of difference - Or it could be huge-in which case you may in fact be drowning. 

No one is winning at lockdown, no one is getting out of this with a pass or merit. We all just have to take every day as it comes and act accordingly. 

So if we were to ask you to sum up in one word what you need-what would it be? 
Second part of the question- is there anyone or anything that can help you? If the answer is clear- go ask/plan/do/seek!

This is a really great journaling prompt to encourage you to think about what you really need to centre yourself. Sometimes we all need a grounding moment but we don't know how to get it. 

It might be that you need to zone out and binge watch Netflix, it might be that you need to get knee deep into a good book or it might be that you need to relax and do some meditation.....whatever it may be, give yourself the chance to figure out what it is and make it happen without any guilt 🌈

✨ "I don't have enough time" - You do! It doesn't need to talk long. You don't need to sit for hours and write essays, start off small. Set a 5 minute timer and stick to that. If 5 minutes seems a bit daunting start with 2! 

✨ "Journaling isn't for me" - Journaling is for everyone, it doesn't matter who you are or the journey that you have taken to get you to where you are today, journaling is a space for you to call your own. 

✨ "I'm not creative" - Creativity comes in so many forms, everyone is creative in their own way. What's great about journaling is that even just writing a few words can be creative and as the wonderful Maya Angelou said "You can't use up creativity, the more you use, the more you have". 

✨ "I don't know what to write" - Start with some simple journal prompts, we have shared a few on our feed. We also have a FREE DOWNLOAD of 14 journal prompts download to help start your journey to journaling when you subscribe to our mailing list. 

✨ "My hand writing isn't neat enough" - It doesn't matter. Journaling is for you and only you. The more you write the more comfortable you may become with your handwriting.

You may be asking, what is a core value? Your core values are your fundamental beliefs as a person. 

Think of your core values of your roots as they are the beliefs that can help to ground you. 

"I guess when I think about my core values I take it right back to fundamentally what feels right in my gut and what brings me true happiness. Honesty is something that I value in myself and in others, which means me being true to myself and means me being able to trust the people closest to me. Being able to be compassionate is also something that I really value and being able to see things from someone else's perspective. Being able to try and understand how they are feeling and responding to what ever they are feeling with love is really powerful. It also means being compassionate with myself and listening to what I really need too."

This is a really tricky one to try and put into words but I hope I have helped you to understand how to begin to understand what your core values are. Remember there is no right or wrong. 💛

    Hey Planners, Finn here, I’ve been daydreaming Hey Planners, Finn here, 

I’ve been daydreaming a bit recently, about a perfect day.......

Visualising my "perfect" day was once all bells and whistles, champagne, expensive meals, trips to spas and musicals. 

But now in this strange year the perfect day became something I'd previously have hurried away. 

The perfect day is just to stay, in those mundane moments with the people I love the most, but took the regular contact we had for granted. 

Those moment when I was focused on the next moment, but never realised these would be the last mundane moments for a long long time. 

The sipping of coffees and nibbles of cake as we put the world to rights.

The late night wine induced giggles.

The walks in the park. 

The Play dates in stuffy churches. 

The Bring and share dinners. 

The un-glamorous moments, the hugs I wish I had squeezed in just a little bit tighter, held just a little bit longer. 

The "I love you, your really fucking amazing" words I wish I could say right in to their eyes, and not through a screen. 

That will be my perfect day. The mundane normal passing of time with the ones I can not see. Mums home cooked dinner, the hugs that say more than a thousand Whatsapp messages.

Distance makes the heart grow fonder they say, now I also see it that way. 

My perfect day will come, I have hope to be able to travel to the UK again sometime this year, and I think I like many, will be appreciating the little things in life more than I did before. 

Until then I am taking it day by day, embracing the joys of living in Kenya and staying in touch with loved ones as much as I can.

Mental Health in children is a subject that’s so close to my heart 💜

It’s crucial that we as caregivers recognise that teaching our children the benefits of keeping healthy in mind and spirit can actually lay the foundations for the rest of their lives. 

Just as we teach them all other aspects of health such as moving our bodies and eating healthily, we must also teach them the importance of mental wellbeing and resilience so that they are prepared for the inevitable situations they will face.

    We held a workshop today on vision boarding with t We held a workshop today on vision boarding with the wonderful @marybadassmeadows. It was lots of fun and we learnt so much!

To give you an insight into some of what we covered today.....

✂️ We started off with a grounding meditation to bring everyone into the right headspace. 

✂️ Then we moved onto a journaling exercise to loosen everyone up 

✂️ Then Mary took us through her balance wheel exercise which is a coaching tool used to evaluate where you are feeling fulfilled in life and where you aren't.
It helps you identify where you need to bring more focus in all areas of your life including; relationships, finances, self care, health and so on. You are asked to rate these areas from 1-10 (1 being worst and 10 being best) and then it creates a spider web effect so you can clearly identify where you need to put your focus. 

✂️ We then moved onto our Freeflow Vision Boarding and saw some amazing creations. 

We will be holding more workshops like this over the coming months so keep an eye out if you would like to take part 👀
